Trump Told Cohen To Lie And It MAY Not Matter

Buzzfeed reported that Trump instructed Cohen to lie to Congress about the timing of the Trump Tower meetings in Russia. It also reported there is corroborating evidence. While testimony alone should be enough to indict and impeach Trump, we better all hope/pray for the corroborating evidence, because without it, even sworn testimony to Trump’s crimes, likely won’t be enough.

With sworn testimony to Trump’s crimes, but without the corroborating evidence, the most likely outcome is:

  • Cohen testifies the Trump told him to lie
  • Trump says Cohen is lying
  • GOP-led Senate uses Trump’s denial to vote against impeachment
  • Barr uses Trump’s denial to keep Mueller from indicting Trump
  • Barr uses stated DOJ policy not to release any information on cases they choose NOT to indict
  • Mueller report never gets released
  • Trump gets away with it
  • GOP stacks courts with radicals appointed by a corrupt puppet of a foreign power that helped put him in power

Yes, read that last one again. The Cohen testimony is important, but unless the corroborating evidence part is there also, Trump has enough institutional protection to survive even direct sworn testimony to his crimes.
